ActiveLens turns your calls and meetings into something you can actually use: a
written summary, a searchable transcript, and a short list of things to do
next. This article walks you from signing in to your first finished call.

Open the app and sign in with the email address your invitation was sent to.
There are three ways in, and you can use whichever suits you:

- **Password** — the one you set the first time you signed in.
- **Email me a login code** — we send a short code to your inbox and you type
  it in. Nothing to remember.
- **Continue with Google** — if your work email is a Google account.

If you were invited by a colleague, use the link in the invitation email the
first time. It takes you straight to setting your password.

Forgot your password? Choose **Forgot password** on the sign-in screen and
follow the email we send you.

## Find your way around

The **Active Hub** is home. It has two tabs:

- **Calls** — every call you can see, newest first. Search, filter by date or
by person, and switch between a card grid and a list.
- **Tasks** — your to-do list. Tasks can be created by hand or lifted out of a
  call.

Everything else lives in the left sidebar: **Integrations** for connecting
other tools, **Settings** for your own preferences, and — if you are a
workspace admin — **Users & teams** and **Plan & billing**.

## Get your first call in

There are four ways to bring a call into ActiveLens. You do not need to pick
one and stick with it.

1. **Record in your browser.** Press **Record** in the Active Hub and start
talking. Your microphone is captured and the transcript appears live.
2. **Record with the desktop app.** The desktop app captures both sides of an
online meeting — you and the people you are talking to. This is the one to
use for Zoom, Teams, Meet and softphone calls.
3. **Upload a recording.** Press **Upload File** in the Active Hub and pick an
   audio file you already have.
4. **Connect your phone system.** Once connected, recorded calls arrive on
their own, with no button to press.

See [Record a call](/help/recording-a-call) for the details of each.

## What happens after a call

When a call finishes, ActiveLens works through it in the background. You do not
have to wait on the page — you will see the call appear in the Active Hub and
fill in as it goes.

- The **transcript** is written out, with each speaker on their own line.
- A **summary** is drafted from the transcript.
- **Actions** are suggested: an email to send, a meeting to set, a task to
create, a record to update in another tool.

Open the call to read the summary, correct anything that is off, and work
through the actions.

## Invite your team

If you are an admin, go to **Users & teams** and add the people you work with.
They get an invitation email of their own. You can group people into **teams**,
which is how you later decide who can see whose calls.

## Install the desktop app

Open the user menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose **Download desktop
app**. There is a Windows and a macOS version. The desktop app is what captures
the other side of a meeting, so it is worth installing even if you mostly work
in the browser.
